TCS FAQ
These are the most common questions we get about TCS - if you still have questions don’t hesitate to drop us a line at memberships@traviscountystrength.com
Is every day the same?
No, each day of the week has a different focus, and weeks progress over 7-9 week cycles. A coach can fill you in on the current cycle when you drop in, just ask!
Here’s an example weekly schedule (please note there’s a lot more in each class than the focus movement):
Monday: Squats / Dynamic Movement
Tuesday: Pressing / Pull-ups
Wednesday: Alternating Barbell Conditioning and Strongman
Thursday: Chest / Pushing / Sprinting
Friday: Deadlifts / Posterior Chain
Saturday: Strongman / Strongwoman (open to all)
Sunday: Conditioning focus
Is it OK that I don’t know very much about strength training?
Absolutely. The most important prerequisite is a desire to work hard and a willingness to learn and be coached. We are here to help those new to fitness get their feet underneath them. Coaches are trained to assess your movement patterns and are ready to scale any part of the workout to meet you where you’re at.
We also have personal training available if you’d like a more 1:1 intro.
I’ve got an injury or physical limitation - can TCS work for me?
We pride ourselves on being able to modify the daily programming to help work around injuries or movement limitations.
We are very used to programming around pulls, strains, breaks, tendon issues, range of motion restrictions, and inherent differences in physical abilities. Chances are good we can get you moving and getting stronger in a way that works for you.
If you still have questions please reach out to memberships@traviscountystrength.com
What style of gym is TCS?
Simply put, we are a Strength & Conditioning Gym. TCS focuses on:
Keeping clients ready for the physical demands of life
Diversity of movements
Accessibility and scaleability of movements
Conditioning for both short bouts of high-intensity work and longer duration moderate-intensity grinding
This strongman stuff sounds interesting - can I just show up for those classes?
Absolutely! We’ll have you moving heavy stuff in no time.
Why no A/C?
Heat adaptation is real, and helpful for tackling everyday life in TX. There are many benefits to challenging workouts, one of which that we embrace: growth through (appropriate) discomfort.
Do you have childcare? Can I bring my kids?
While we don’t have supervised childcare, many patrons will have their kids hang out in the lobby and use a screen or read a book for the hour they are working out. While there’s no official daycare option, for well-behaved kids hanging in the lobby works well. Please bring headphones.
Do you offer Discounts?
Military, First Responder and Teacher Discounts Available - inquire over email or with a coach.
